Previewing a Composition

Before you begin, ensure all of the following conditions are met:

  • The Templater Settings effect has been applied to all layers intended to be dynamic.
  • Column names or property keys in your data source match the names of dynamic layers.
  • A data source, footage folder, and output folder are entered into the fields in the Batch Assets section of the Templater panel.

  1. Enter a valid start row and end row in fields found in Render ____ through ____.

    NOTE  Start row must be greater than 1 for Google Sheets and tabbed-delimited files. For JSON object arrays, start row must be greater than 0. Also, the end row must always be greater than the start row .

  2. In the Render Options section of the Templater panel, select next row from the Preview uses dropdown menu.
  3. Click Preview. Templater processes a single job’s data from your data source and updates dynamic layers with new data and transform values.
  4. Click Preview again to see the next job's data appear in your dynamic layers. Templater will cycle back to the beginning of your spreadsheet when it has retrieved the last row of data from your spreadsheet.

  1. In the Render Options section of the Templater panel, select current state from the Preview uses dropdown menu.
  2. Change a layer’s text content using the Type Tool and enter in a new phrase. Or change attachments, linking, or a reference footage path in the data source.
  3. Click Preview to see how Templater applies its layout intelligence to the dynamic layers.

ClosedMultiple previews with cycling

  1. Enter a valid start row and end row in fields found in Render ____ through ____.

    NOTE  Start row must be greater than 1 for Google Sheets and tabbed-delimited files. For JSON object arrays, start row must be greater than 0. Also, the end row must always be greater than the start row .

  2. In the Render Options section of the Templater panel, set a range of data for Templater to process.
  3. Click Cycle Previews to enable auto-cycling of previews within the selected row range. You will see the dynamic layers in your composition update.
  4. While Templater is in cycle preview mode, you can only select options from the Preview uses drop down menu. To stop Templater from cycling previews and enable other UI elements, click Stop Cycling.
