Create a GIF Clip
GIF preview clip settings are configured at the payload level. These settings tell Projector how to create a preview clip for each individual mission in the payload.
Streaming services don't use GIF clips. But you can use them to promote your videos on social media or in email or text marketing. Producing GIF clips can slow down processing time. If your payload includes five 10-second videos, you might not notice. But if your payload is 5,000 30-second videos, it becomes a bigger consideration. Since you'll also be archiving those GIF clips, storage may be a concern as well.
- In the Transcode section of Projector, click Setup.
-
Select a value for FPS from the drop-down. This is one way Projector lets you control the file size and processing time for the clip. GIF clips should provide an idea of the video but viewers don't expect them to be full video quality. Pick a value that balances quality against your storage and processing considerations. The drop-down provides commonly used options as well as the ability to match the original video.
-
For Start Time, enter a value in seconds for when Projector should start creating the GIF.
-
For Duration, enter in seconds how long the GIF clip should last.
NOTE It's extremely important that you know how long your customized videos are. If a video is three seconds long, and you enter a Start time of 3.5 seconds, the entire mission will fail. Likewise, if a video is three seconds long, you enter a Start time of 1 second and a Duration of 2.5 seconds, the entire mission will fail. If your customized videos are of different lengths, make sure you choose values that will work for even the shortest video.
-
For Max width, enter a value in pixels. Projector automatically adjusts the height based on your specified width, so your clip has the same aspect ratio as your video. For best quality, make sure the width you set here is not greater than the Output Width you set for the transcoded video.
