Managing and Troubleshooting QUE Satellites

Your account must have at least one authorized Satellite in order to use QUE. By using Templater to create a QUE Satellite, the host machine running Templater becomes associated with that Satellite. A Satellite is given the same name as the host machine that adds it to QUE. You can change the name of a QUE Satellite by first changing the host machine's name and then use Templater to sync the machine profile with the Satellite.

When you want to prevent a Satellite from accessing your QUE data, you can remove the Satellite by using the QUE Dash or by using Templater. It is best practice to remove a Satellite using Templater so that both QUE and the host machine are cleared of any security tokens. If you remove a Satellite using the QUE Dash then you can clear the associated host machine's profile using Templater at a later time. Any Jobs assigned to a Satellite that is deleted become unassigned and will need to be re-assigned to another authorized Satellite for processing to continue.

Common Issues with Satellites and Resolutions

If you encounter any issues managing your Satellites, use the following table to guide your troubleshooting.

Table 1: Troubleshooting issues with Satellites

Issue Possible Causes Suggested Resolution
Unable to add a Satellite by using the Add to QUE button in Templater's QUE Configuration dialog
  • A Satellite with the same name already exists in your QUE account.

  • Your machine's host name contains a character that cannot be interpreted by QUE.

  • You have reached the limit of how many Satellites can be added under your QUE Plan.

  • Templater cannot gather the required data about the host machine to use for adding the Satellite.

  • Templater's security token has expired and can't be refreshed.

  • Click Clear Profile to remove any trace of previous profile registrations with QUE and then click Load Profile and then try Add to QUE once more.
  • Each Satellite added to your organization must be uniquely named. You may need to delete the Satellite with the conflicting name from the QUE Dash before adding the Satellite from Templater. Likewise, you may need to clear the machine profile using Templater before adding the Satellite.
  • Simplify your machine's host name with a small set of basic characters and remove any punctuation or spaces in the host name.
  • Purchase additional Satellite slots for your QUE Plan to allow more Satellites to be added.
  • Try logging into the host machine as an administrator and then try to add a Satellite.
  • Ensure you are signed into QUE by first signing out, then signing back in to authorize Templater. Then, try to add a Satellite again.
Unable to remove a Satellite by using the Remove from QUE button in Templater's QUE Configuration dialog
  • The Satellite was already removed from the QUE Dash before an attempt to remove it using Templater

  • Templater's security token has expired and can't be refreshed.

  • A Satellite must exist in QUE before it can be removed by using Templater. If the Add to QUE button is disabled, click Clear Profile, and try again.
  • Ensure you are signed into QUE by first signing out, then signing back into authorize Templater. Then, try removing the Satellite again.
Clicking Load Profile displays the current machine profile but fails to display any properties in QUE Satellite Information
  • Templater can't find a Satellite in QUE that matches the machine profile.

  • Templater's security token has expired and can't be refreshed.

  • Try adding the Satellite by clicking Add to QUE. If a Satellite is successfully added to QUE, click Load Profile again to populate all UI displays in the QUE Configuration dialog.
  • Ensure you are signed into QUE by first signing out, then signing back in to authorize Templater. Then, try clicking Load Profile again.
