Aligning Layers

Follow these steps to force a layer to align to either the edges or corners of its parent composition:

  1. In a comp, make a new layer. Apply the Templater Settings effect.
  2. In the Templater Settings effect controls, go to the Alignment parameters.
  3. Under the Align to menu, choose a side or corner of the layer’s composition you want the layer to align to.
  4. Change the Padding field to add a cushion of pixel padding on the side or corners selected in the Align to menu.
  5. If you want your layer to initialize to the center before repositioning to the specified alignment setting, check the Initialize to Center box.
  6. If you prefer to set the alignment relative to the anchor point of the layer instead of the bounding box of the layer, check the Consider anchor point box.
  7. To see how Templater's layout engine interprets your alignment choice, choose current state from the Preview uses dropdown in the Templater panel.
