Authorizing Access to Your Google Sheets Documents

Once you have authorized Templater to access your Google Sheets documents, Templater remains signed into your Google Drive account. If your After Effects preferences are reset, you will need to grant Templater access to your account again.

WARNING  Versions of Templater prior to 3.1.0 depend on a user authorization flow that Google deprecated and retired in 2022. If you have an older version of Templater and want to begin using Google data, download the latest version.

Follow these steps to let Templater access your Google Sheets:

  1. In the Templater panel, under Batch Assets, click the Google Drive icon.
  2. In the Google Spreadsheet Setup dialog, click Sign In.
  3. In the browser window that appears, log in to the Google Drive account you want to authorize.
  4. Click Allow on any screens that discuss the actions and permissions Templater will receive. You must allow all of the access requested or Templater will not be able to use data in your Google Sheets data source.
  5. When the browser redirects to a confirmation screen, switch back to Templater and click Authorize.
  6. Verify that a list of Google Sheets associated with your account loads in the Google Spreadsheet Setup dialog.
  7. To link your After Effects project to a specific worksheet, see Linking a Google Sheets Document to Your AE Project.
