Deactivating Templater

Each Templater license key can have one or more activations (or seats). Each Templater seat can only be activated on a single machine at a time. If you need to move Templater to a different machine, follow these steps to deactivate, first. Then see Registering and Activating Templater to activate on the new machine.

WARNING   Deactivating Templater does not cancel any recurring subscription payments to Dataclay, LLC, its partners, or resellers. You must work directly with your vendor to cancel any recurring charges to your account. For example, to fully cancel a subscription purchased from Dataclay, you must login to your account, navigate to the Licenses & Billing page, then go to the Billing tab to find the Manage Orders and Account link. From here you can cancel any recurring subscriptions and optionally remove your payment method under the "Payment Method" tab. If you purchased from aescripts + aeplugins you must login to your aescripts account.

NOTE   This process is only relevant for standard, node-locked installations of Templater. Floating license clients are not individually-licensed—deactivation will happen on the server machine instead.

You can deactivate Templater via Templater's Preferences panel, which is described below, or via our website.

ClosedDeactivate Templater via Templater's Preferences

Online activation is the standard method for deactivating Templater. In most cases, you will want to use this method.

ClosedDeactivate Templater Offline

If you have access to your machine but it is disconnected from the internet, or there are networking configurations like a firewall that are interfering with communication to Dataclay's licensing server, you can deactivate Templater in offline mode.

NOTE  This method is not for deactivating Templater on machines that are inaccessible, such as after an operating system reinstall or loss of the machine. If you no longer have access to an activated machine, you can deactivate via your account on the Dataclay website.

  2. In the Templater panel, click Preferences to launch Templater Preferences.

  5. Leave the License Key field empty. Click Generate Deactivation Request File.
  6. Select a location to save Templater-Deactivation-Request.xml. After saving, a dialog will appear; closing the dialog will open the location of the saved deactivation request file. Take note of the location.
  7. In a browser, go to dataclay.com and sign in to your account.

    1. Navigate to Account > Licenses & Billing.
    2. Under the Trouble activating your key? heading, click Deactivate to launch the Deactivate Offline modal. Then open the file picker and select the XML file you created.

    4. If your license deactivated successfully, you will see a success message.
  8. Back in After Effects, you may close the Templater Offline License Management dialog by clicking Cancel.

  2. In the Templater panel, click Preferences to launch Templater Preferences.
