Registering and Activating Templater

Immediately after installing Templater, you can work in trial mode before deciding to purchase a license for use. Trial mode includes a fully featured version of Templater and lasts 30 days starting from the date of installation. During the trial, the Templater Settings effect will render layers with a superimposed, graphical watermark, and replicating master compositions functions only when the "Send Replicates to the Adobe Media Encoder" preference is enabled. After the trial period ends, all features in Templater cease to function.

WARNING  Trials should always use the Standard (node-locked) installer. If you've installed the Floating license version of Templater without a license, you will receive an invalid filter ( 25 :: 3 ) error message when you try to add the Templater Settings plugin to a layer.

Follow these steps to register and activate Templater:

ClosedRegister and Activate Templater Online

  1. Launch The Templater Script UI Panel from AE's menu. Select Window > Templater 3.jsxbin.

  2. In the Templater panel, click Preferences to launch Templater Preferences.

  3. Click Activation. You can find this button within the Templater Features group in the bottom right corner of the Templater Preferences dialog.
  4. Enter your product key code into the Product Key field.
  5. Click Activate Templater
  6. Click License Info to verify Activation was successful.
  7. Save any changes to your project file. Quit and relaunch After Effects to use Templater in activated mode.

    NOTE   After restarting After Effects, if you still see a watermark on any layer with the Templater Settings effect, purge After Effects' memory. To do this, go to Edit > Purge > All Memory and Disk Cache.

ClosedRegister and Activate Templater Offline

NOTE   This process is only available for standard, node-locked licenses. This will not work for floating licenses.

  1. Access the registration dialog by clicking Register… from the Templater Settings effect controls.
  2. Enter your product key.
  3. Click Activate.
  4. Click Offline Activation.
  5. Click Generate Request File to create a file on your Desktop named Templater-Activation-Request.xml.
  6. In a browser, go to dataclay.com and sign in to your account.
    1. Navigate to Account > Licenses and Billing.
    2. Click Activate Offline. Then click Choose File and select the XML file you created.
    3. Click Upload.
    4. After the file is processed, downloading of the Activation Response file will begin.
  7. In AfterEffects, click Register... from the Templater Settings effect controls.
  8. Enter your product key. Click Activate, then click Offline Activation.
  9. Click the file picker and select the Activation Response file.
  10. Click Activate from File. Once the process completes, your account will be activated.
  11. Save any changes to your project file. Then quit and relaunch After Effects.

    NOTE   After restarting After Effects, if you still see a watermark on any layer with the Templater Settings effect, purge After Effects' memory. To do this, go to Edit > Purge > All Memory and Disk Cache.

ClosedRegister and Activate Templater Floating License

Registration and activation is significantly different for Templater floating licenses as compared to the method used to register and activate node-locked licenses.
