Registering and Activating Templater

WARNING  Use the Standard installer if you plan to evaluate Templater in trial mode. Templater does not support trial mode for floating licenses and will display an invalid filter ( 25 :: 3 ) error message when you try to add the plugin to a layer.

Templater initially installs in trial mode, a fully featured version of Templater. You can work in trial mode for 30 days starting from the date of installation. This lets you evaluate Templater and the benefits it offers. At the end of the trial period, all features in Templater cease to function.

NOTE  When in trial mode, the Templater Settings effect superimposes a graphical watermark on all rendered layers. Also, you can only replicate master compositions when the "Send Replicates to the Adobe Media Encoder" preference is enabled.

The instructions in this article are for registering and activating a standard (node-locked) Templater license either online or offline. If you have purchased Templater floating licenses, the method is significantly different and includes installing a licensing server.

Register and Activate Templater While Online

  1. Open Adobe After Effects.

  2. In the Templater pane, click Preferences to launch Templater Preferences.

    If you don't see the Templater pane, click Window and select Templater 3.jsxbin. Would you like to dock the pane so it opens with every AE project? Just click the word Templater in the upper left corner of the pane, then drag-and-drop it to where you want it.

  3. Click Licensing > Activation.
  4. Enter your product key code into the Product Key field.
  5. Click Activate Templater to automatically activate your license. You can verify activation was successful by clicking License Info when the process completes.
  6. Save any changes to your project file. Quit and relaunch After Effects to use Templater in activated mode.

    NOTE   If you still see the Templater trial mode watermark on any layer after restarting After Effects, purge After Effects' memory. To do this, go to Edit > Purge > All Memory and Disk Cache.

Register and Activate Templater While Offline

  1. Open Adobe After Effects.

  2. In the Templater pane, click Preferences to launch Templater Preferences.

    If you don't see the Templater pane, click Window and select Templater 3.jsxbin. Would you like to dock the pane so it opens with every AE project? Just click the word Templater in the upper left corner of the pane, then drag-and-drop it to where you want it.

  3. Click Licensing > Activation.
  4. Enter your product key.
  5. Click Activate.
  6. Click Offline Activation.
  7. Click Generate Request File to create a file on your Desktop named Templater-Activation-Request.xml.
  8. In a browser, go to dataclay.com and sign in to your account.
    1. Navigate to Account > Licenses and Billing.
    2. Click Activate Offline. Then click Choose File and select the XML file you created.
    3. Click Upload.
    4. After the file is processed, the Activation Response file will download.
  9. Repeat steps 1-6.
  10. Click the file picker and select the Activation Response file.
  11. Click Activate from File. Once the process completes, your account will be activated.
  12. Save any changes to your project file. Then quit and relaunch After Effects.

NOTE   If you still see the Templater trial mode watermark on any layer after restarting After Effects, purge After Effects' memory. To do this, go to Edit > Purge > All Memory and Disk Cache.
